On Saturday 6th April, it was my 25th birthday and whilst it was a Saturday, it didn't change the fact that my boyfriend, Daniel, would be hard at work long before I had even woken up.

Now, I thought what better way could I make the most of this sunny day than by combining two things I love, (1) spending time with Daniel and (2) being in a tractor!

So I headed on down to the farm, where I previously worked a few years back, to join Daniel in his Case Optum 300 where he was disc harrowing a field ready for Potatoes.

The Tractor

So as I say, this is a Case Optum 300 pulling an Amazone Catros Disc Harrow.

The muck spreading team has just been on this field spreading turkey muck to fertilise the field, Daniel then works in the muck with the soil ahead of a heavier cultivation machine to further work the seedbed ahead of special preparations to make this field suitable and ready for planting potatoes.

I love spending time with Daniel when he's at work and getting my dosing of farming here and there now that I no longer work full-time as a farmer myself.

A few days later, I took another trip to the fields to spend another morning with Daniel and on this occasion, he was pulling a Lemken Kompactor on Sugar Beet land.

You can watch the below video to see this tractor and machinery in action and if you have any questions or would like to know more about this job or arable farming in general, please feel free to comment on this post or over on my YouTube video.

Much love,

ree
